YouTube, take down terrorism recruiting videos - now:
This is a statement from Senator Joe Lieberman about his request to Google/YouTube to remove terrorist related videos. God help me I agree with him. Especially this part…
Google’s defense is that it is protecting free speech. But, in my opinion, videos produced by terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda that are committed to attacking America and killing Americans are not protected by the First Amendment and should not be tolerated.
Google must begin by enforcing YouTube’s own community standards for posting videos - standards that disallow “graphic or gratuitous violence” or the posting of “videos showing … bomb making.” Furthermore, Google should change its policy to ban videos obviously produced by terrorist organizations.
People are quick to cry censorship but that’s not the case. Sen Lieberman is not forcing Google to remove these videos, he’s asking them to enforce their own terms of service. What also gets me is that Google keeps crying first amendment but if the terrorists had their way there would be no first or any other amendments. Not to mention the fact that Google doesn’t let that pesky freedom of speech thing apply in some of the other countries they do business in. You’d think that Google would have no problem fulfilling Sen. Lieberman’s request.
YouTube rappers reach deal to avoid jail time:
Two wannabe rappers from Missouri pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace after they posted a YouTube video showing themselves threatening police officers by name in their rap.
Kenneth D. Black, 20, and Benjamin D. Stevens, 21, were originally charged with felony charges of making a terrorist threat as well, conspiracies to commit second-degree assault, and forcible rape. Wait a second, forcible rape? How do they get forcible rape from a bad rap video on YouTube?
The video showed the men rapping about killing police officers in Savannah and Country Club Village and Andrew County deputies. The footage also showed one of them filming police officers while on duty without the officers’ knowledge.
Stevens got 90 days suspended with two years probation. Black got 30 days suspended with two years probation.
Both were ordered to write letters of apology to the police officers.
Meet 24-year-old Cyrus Yazdani. He’s a graduate of San Jose State University with an art degree and works in Las Vegas as a convention planner. In his off time he’s a vandal known as Buket who has done $150K in damage in the LA area. Maybe you’ve seen some of his work…
Because of these and other videos on YouTube the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s made it a priority to bring him in. And they did.
Yazdani was nabbed when he showed up to meet with his probation officer and booked on multiple charges of felony vandalism.
If you have that kind of talent, allegedly, why not use it for legal purposes or on at least something that you own.
Grangetown alleged drive-by shooting statements on YouTube:
Police in Teesside, UK had to scramble when sensitive information about an investigation was posted on YouTube. The videos entitled Grangetown Grasses part 1 and 2 detailed classified witness information about a 2007 drive by shooting. The videos even included witness addresses and the names of police and suspects involved with the case. It’s unknown how the information became public.
A third statement along with a derogatory rap-style “ode” also appeared on the video website.
The blog post I linked to from an MMA news site is stating that the phenomena is becoming all to prevalent in Hawaii with parents even encouraging the fights.
The school systems in Hawaii have turned to the legitimate MMA community to help curb these incidents.
Personally I think the best thing would be for the legit MMA fighters to go these so called parents’ houses and put them in ankle locks until they promise not to encourage this idiotic behavior in their kids.
I have nothing against MMA. I’m sort of a fan of it. But fights by untrained combatants can only lead to injury.
“The Taliban have not been very advanced as far as the media war is concerned. But we are making efforts to catch up with the latest methods, and we will soon be available on YouTube,” the Daily Times quoted the non-Pashtun Taliban, with his face covered, as saying.
I wonder if Google will consider this free speech as well. Meanwhile their still censoring the Chinese web.
I got an e-mail recently chiding me for not doing my research on my post about Angela Finger. To recap Angela Finger is 21 and is being sought by her parents. Angela is allegedly keeping company with known and wanted sex offender William Matthew Smolich.
The e-mail I received accused Angela’s parents of being white trash thieving internet trolls whose main goal is not the return of their daughter but to control her life. That may be all well and good but if my daughter, no matter how old she was, was holding court with a wanted sex offender you damn well better bet that I’d be doing everything within my power to find her.
Why we posted epilepsy film to YouTube:
A Canadian couple are defending their decision to post a video to YouTube showing a woman having an epileptic seizure. The wife, Christine, has epilepsy and wanted to see what happens when she has a seizure. They also are proponents of medical marijuana claiming that the marijuana helps control the seizures.
That’s all well and good but they’re comparing apples abnd oranges here, or even more in this case apples and eggplants.
The videos that that the UK epilepsy group are referring to are the ones made for comedic and voyeuristic tendencies.
I’m sure if someone took their video and re-edited it to make it funny and poking fun at her condition they would more than likely have a problem with that.
There are links to their video within the article.
